To configure password-less login to a remote machine first, generate an SSH authentication key file on the local machine by using:

ssh-keygen -t rsa

Just press "enter" on all the questions to go with the defaults. Then, use:

ssh-copy-id username@remoteserver.com

Alternativley, you could use:

cat .ssh/id_rsa.pub | ssh username@remoteserver.com 'cat >> .ssh/authorized_keys'

Enter your password to confirm.

Make sure you check permissions on these directories:

chmod 700 ~/.ssh

chmod 640 ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

You should be able to log in without a password!
